Contribution to the Collective:

In response to I'm lonely, what can I do?.. the Gaming Group develops ideas centred on social and personal aspects and effects of gaming. The group also explores avatar creation/multiple personas, social gaming, simulation, escapism and the differences between the physical and the virtual.

During the Tate Modern Exchange residency (Arts Work of the Future, 6-11 March 2018), the Gaming Group will present a mixed reality gaming experience. Attendees can enjoy constructing a life size, hand painted, puzzle to reveal imagery based on relative themes. They can then experience the same concept in virtual reality!

What you get from the Collective:

Technology innovation happens to you rather than with you. Silicone valley is a male dominated domain, sometimes difficult for a woman to access with only 20% of tech workers at Google being female, for example. The collective offered me a chance to explore, integrating art and technology to investigate the future of this world with an artistic, critical mind. I have worked on some really exciting projects with the collective and it has been an incredible journey thus far working with people who share an interest in art and technology.

Interests in digital making:

My practice is informed by my interest in science, in particular the interrelationship of all matter at different scales. I would like to integrate digital technology into my practice through collaborations and dialogue.. My ideas extend in ways that could take a variety of forms within DMC depending on the type of dialogues generated. Light, sound, performance, interactive projection, microscopy, time lapse and slow motion films; these are some of the avenues I would like to explore.

Contribution to the Collective:

Ideas, enthusiasm, commitment. Also, I have a Interior Spacial Design degree that will help in terms of producing scaled working design drawings and plans and final settings for our ideas.

What you get from the Collective:

Collaborations and dialogue. Exposure to technology from the perspective of those currently using it in their work. Opportunity to work with Tate Modern and possibly other groups. Learning from peer’s diverse skills, ideas and experience.

Interactive and Digital Art.

I am an installation artist, interested in how technology can affect our intimate relationship to a material’s ontology.

Currently I am expanding my knowledge in creative coding, electronics, adobe software.

Contribution to the Collective:

I am currently leading a group for the Tate Exchange that questions ‘What is the future of Interaction?’ in relation to creative coding and electronics. Work in progress was recently shared at Tate Lates. I aim to open opportunities to students and alumni to have the confidence to learn to code and create interactive installations.

In 2017 I was involved in a range of workshops and conferences with the collective, which include a workshop with Brixton Hill Mead School in collaboration with Cyland at the Tate Exchange, a Tate Kids workshop and sharing the perspective of alumni students at the DEL Conference.

What you get from the Collective:

Through collective learning I have gathered skills in creative coding, recently with Arduino, RGB lights, LED lights and ultrasonic sensors.

The act of collaborating with others has also influenced my own practice as the collective’s interdisciplinary nature has allowed me to further question how advancing technologies can bond with and influence contemporary art.

Interests in digital making:

I am interested in the ways in which art and technology can overlap. I enjoy working with a variety of digital mediums, including creative coding, electronics, animation, 3-D design and virtual reality. As an artist, these mediums help contribute to my interest in installation and interactive art.

Contribution to the Collective:

I currently provide technical assistance and help lead the group of 'What is the future of interaction?'. The group has recently presented a collaborative piece with the Digital Maker Collective at Tate Late.

What you get from the Collective:

The collective provides a space in which my digital making skills can improve, whether it be through the workshops or people I meet. It also gives me a chance to pass on my knowledge and skills to other passionate makers, or gain other new insights into the world of digital making. Being a part of the collective also provides an opportunity to strengthen the importance of the digital and its possible implications within the arts. I'm grateful that I get to contribute to this collective, which emphasizes collaboration and the pursuit of artworks of the future.

Interests in digital making:

I am a video installation artist and use different technologies as a tool to present my object relationships. I am learning Blender independently and consider virtual reality to be a potential future tool. The collective has influenced me to start expanding my digital mediums into emerging technologies.

I have been learning electronics and creative coding as a collaborative practice.

Contribution to the Collective:

I have been a part of the Digital Maker Collective for just over a year. I currently help lead weekly Tate Exchange meet ups that focus on the question of 'What is the future of interaction?' We are rethinking virtual and physical spaces through both sensory and immersive experiences.

I participated in the recent Tate Late event with the interactive and sensory RGB light display.

I have also been involved in various workshops and conferences throughout 2017. This includes the collaboration with CYLAND and Brixton Hill Mead School at Tate Exchange 2017 and the DEL conference.

What you get from the Collective:

I have learnt new technical skills with other members.

The current discussions surrounding 'Arts Works of the Future' has influenced my art practice.

I will be exhibiting with other members of the collective in April 2017 and am looking forward to seeing my work within a digital-fuelled space!
