DMC Newsletter #18-09-18

DMC operations are moving to Camberwell !

In 2016 the DMC found itself a small room at Chelsea College of Arts which became the main base camp & operations room for the DMC, see an early tweet from room A216 Chelsea College of Arts.

From next week the DMC will begin a new chapter in Camberwell, Wilson Road where the Modular building is due to be launched as the Playground: A new Centre for Social Enterprise.

The new building will have lots of space for DMC meet-ups, and will provide a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with the local neighbours, friends, general public & industry partners. News about the Camberwell, Chelsea & Wimbledon college MakerSpaces will hopefully follow soon so we can also plan to meet in the other colleges.

Tate Exchange Planning 2019 & DMC Meet-ups

With the move to Camberwell & waiting on news of the CCW makerspaces, we will have to put a hold on DMC meet-ups until early October, we will propose a date & place to meet asap.

Its likely the Tate Exchange activities will focus on DMC activities with the local Camberwell communities and on socially engaged practice.

The 18/19 Tex theme is Movement and the lead artist for Tate Exchange is Tania Bruguera who is the artist commissioned to install the Turbine Hall Commission for 2018/19.

Last week some of Tate Exchange associates met with Tania Bruguera to talk about the challenges of socially engaged practice & collaboration ! Looking forward to experiencing Tania Bruguera's Turbine Hall commission in a few weeks.
