Recalibrate your digital life through citizen-centred innovation and debate

Join the Digital Maker Collective, invited guest contributors and our community partners to campaign for a Beta Society. This week-long event aims to establish a new community of creatives, students, industry and public, exploring social mobility and citizen-centered innovation through a digital lens.

Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative workshops and open debate. Help us explore the pervasive impacts of technology on our everyday lives as we learn together through socially-engaged digital practice.

We hope to establish the foundations to build a new sustainable future for the Beta Society, where we can continue meaningful and long-term engagement beyond this event.

BETA Society Event Partners:

• Digital Maker Collective: University of the Arts London staff, students and alumni who explore emerging technologies in the arts.
• Open Design and Manufacturing OD&M: A knowledge alliance co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
• LionHeart In The Community: Empowering local communities through sport, apprenticeships and international youth exchange.
• Black Thrive: A partnership for black wellbeing, supporting people of African and Caribbean descent who suffer disproportionately with mental health and wellbeing.
• Child Rights International Network: Introducing dynamic perspectives on human rights with a focus on children’s rights and environmental impact.
• Happy Finish: Innovative creative production studio specialising in retouch, CGI, XR, AI, Motion VFX and animation.

Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to engage with the Beta Society event partners in collaborative workshops and making activities & open debate in two main spaces: 

• Action Space: Co-production & making space, with workshops & activities led in collaboration with by BETA event partners over the week
• Debate Space: Presentation & debate space where invited guests debate & share perspectives and experience of social practice, social mobility, inclusion & diversity

At the end of this week-long event, we hope to establish the foundations to build a new sustainable future for the Beta Society, where we can continue meaningful and long term engagement beyond the event.
