Tate Exchange - BETA Society update

Beta Society: A new creative social enterprise exploring the pervasive impacts of technology on our everyday lives through citizen centered innovation

We had a very useful planning meeting on Thurs 18th Jan with Jane & Alex from Tate Exchange at the Camberwell Playground. We were also joined by Charles from LionHeart in the community and Leanne from UAL outreach team who we plan to collaborate with in the coming weeks. Many thanks all for making this happen and welcoming our guests.

A new email group has been set up specifically for the Beta Society team, the email group will be used for planning and arranging meet ups and communicating across the various volunteer teams that have been set up with different responsibilities.

The Beta Society email group includes those who have attended the Beta Society planing meetings (and have joined Beta teams google docs list) the new email group will:

  • keep everyone involved in the project planning up-to-date.
  • Info about creating a new Creative Social Enterprise
  • Share progress on the Tate Exchange event planning meetings etc

If you haven't managed to join the Beta Society meetings, but are keen to contribute - volunteer then please contact Chris c.follows@arts.ac.uk some teams may be full, but others teams/jobs require more hands on deck.

Tate Exchange Project Plan:

Please see below a project plan for how we aim to approach and develop the Tate Exchange Beta Society project over the next two months:

Documenting DMC

Please be aware documenting the DMC and our journey is an important part of what we do and the documentation has helped us gain lots of support and interest over the years. Sharing our progress, what we do with others is very important in terms of visibility. Therefore:

  • Photo and video documentation will be taken at all UAL meetups and shared on social media, within UAL spaces. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed please let us know before the sessions/meeting, we will make sure to try and avoid you or obscure you from view, we may need to include the back of head etc.
  • For meet-ups outside UAL, we will seek your approval and in venues such as Tate they will have their own policy on documentation in the public space.
  • If the DMC are working with non-UAL staff, students and alumni we must seek approval before documenting any activities & events.

Many thanks for your contribution to the DMC and helping us share what we do with others.

What to get involved?
