Innovation Games Conference LCF 15 Dec

Members of the Digital Maker Collective took part in the Innovation Games at LCF 15th December, members of the team set up a mini Jam meet-up/demo event with VR + physical computing and letting people know about the DM Collective. It was valuable experience for all of us and has provided new perspectives on our preparations for the Tate Exchange events next year.

Students Kristina Thiele (Chelsea BA ISD) & Alejandro Escobar (Camberwell, MA Arts Digital) helping many staff experience VR for the first time

Students Gemma La Rocca (Chelsea ISD Alumni), Demelza (Chelsea Fine Art), Virginie Tan (LCC Interaction Design) and CCW staff Grzesiek Sedek with his brain wave devices. Event led by Chris Follows

All the conference candidates were asked to answer questions, part of a game to get point & points = prizes. This proved a really great way for getting people to engage in the activities and may be something we try out at Tate. We'd really like to get all the questions (Q3) from the day and share the with the Collective to include and be part of critical debates at the Tate events.

Some examples of questions from the Gamebook about technology:

Will it make my life better?
What keeps on giving?
How can we integrate, get access and afford technology?
What has helped the world progress?
How do we become more efficient?
How can we use technology in an affordable and accessible way?
How might a post-truth world impact the futures of creativity?
What is the best use of VR?
How do we solve a problem?
Will technology divide society?
What is the best way to use VR in the Education sector?
What could be the cure to all human ailments?
How do we evolve?
What are you most looking forward to?
Can technology help mental health?
What is the cure for human ailments such as Parkinson’s using technology?
Does technology lead or follow?
How can technology make everyday tasks simpler?
Can technology help with mental health and stress?
What is the future?
