25-01-17 Planning meeting Virtual Reality Symposia led by Pete Maloney
Pete Maloney will be leading a planning workshop/meeting to discuss some of the themes in the first two Virtual Reality Symposia at Tate Modern, Feb 2017 (See more here).
What: Prep event for Virtual Reality Symposia Basically a what, when, where, who, how and why – this will be a chance to gain an overview of the individual events in which you have kindly agreed to be involved in, and to see how they fit together as a whole and with the other events taking place on each day. I will attempt to shape the themes but there is a chance to contribute and add to this in the meeting. - led by Peter Maloney
When: 25th January 2017 between - Please note change to time 12pm to 2pm
Where: Please note change to meeting room Clore Studio at Tate Britain right at the back of the Tate. From the main front entrance, walk straight down/through the main large foyer space to the very end & turn right.

Virtual Reality Symposia: Virtual Reality is a sublime technology, both beautiful and frightful in equal measure. It has re-emerged as the medium at the forefront of digital technology and with it comes a great deal of promise, hope and hype. In its current iteration the technology is scalable, accessible, affordable and it works. So what is being done with Virtual Reality, what are the implications and potentials for the fields of Art and Design? In this series of four symposia, we will bring together panels of practitioners, educators and students to share practices, knowledge and to promote a critical dialogue around our hopes and fears for Virtual Reality. We will discuss this through themed sessions to explore; Virtual Histories, Virtual Economies, Virtual Bodies and Virtual Space.
