Team DMC Web3

Digital Maker Collective (DMC) Web3 meet weekly as a community of interest group to explore web3 creative opportunities for innovation and enterprise, as well as questioning impacts of mental health, high financial risks, ethics and general wellbeing issues.

DMC are currently exploring Web3 ecosystems, including cryptocurrencies, blockchain technologies, decentralized autonomous organisations (DAOs) and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). As we move towards a more decentralised web, and gain more control over the way we share and sell content, organise data and build Web3 communities, what are the real-world implications of this?

DMC have been collaborating with Global Tech Advocates: Young Entrepreneurs founders Grace Owolade-Coombes and Femi Owolade-Coombes since 2017. Grace and Femi joined the DMC web3 community with an aim of developing a web3 event unconference, with the support of the DMC.

The Realities and Challenges of Running a Web3 Business

Recording above was part of a recent Your Creative Start up and Web3 at The Hub, Univerity of the Arts London. The Realities and Challenges of Running a Web3 Business with Micol Ap from Vertical

UAL Hub in collaboration with Digital Maker Collective and Global Tech Advocates: Young Entrepreneurs, designed and delivered a three-part follow on workshop series Your Creative Start-up and Web3 at The Hub, Peckham. This was developed to generate business ideas using Web3 solutions and to foster an interest in entrepreneurship outside the institution. These ideas could then be supported through the UAL Incubator to grow programme at The Hub.

Through Your Creative Start-up and Web3 workshop series we roadmapped, at student/graduate-level, an enterprise support model that might be refocused to look at other emerging technologies and platforms and their specific benefit to UAL student, graduate and staff-led start-up and business development.

In collaboration with the Founders of Global Tech Advocates: Young Entrepreneurs, Digital Maker Collective members supported a successful Web3 event in Central London as part of London Tech Week 2023 - The Decentralising Power of Web3.0: Unlocking the Potential for Creative Entrepreneurship. This event was an opportunity to both network and to meet potential mentors and speakers at the follow-on workshops. Through this event we established valuable relationships with Web3 and tech experts globally – signposting UAL as a hub of emerging technology and entrepreneurship.
